For the young beginners
The Fisher-Price Grow-to-Pro is a great toy for all young kids who want to start pogo jumping – unlike other sticks it doesn’t have just the small rubber tip on the bottom but also a removable larger base. And users say it’s a great idea – it gives you child confidence and makes learning the first jumps much easier.
And when your kid gets comfortable, you just remove it and use the traditional pogo rubber tip – some users remove it after a few hours or days of jumping, some leave it there much longer, it’s up to your child what would he or she prefer.
This also leads to a small disadvantage of this model – compared to other pogo sticks, it has lower weight limit: from 35 pounds (according to users) to 60 pounds at most (the Flybar Maverick has a 40-80 lbs limit for example).
So it’s best for kids near the lower end of the limit, about 4 or 5 years old – they would be able to enjoy the stick for quite a long time before it becomes too small for them. And most of the kids just love this toy – it’s a nice workout, helps to improve their balance and most importantly it’s a great fun!
Construction and safety
The Grow-to-Pro comes fully assembled and like the other quality pogo sticks it offers a sturdy frame and it’s well made and durable. Only a bit more noisy.
And the safety is also on a good level – the spring is fully enclosed and foot pads have a decent grip. There is no foam padding but the shaft is oval without any harsh parts so it’s not really necessary.
Conclusion: If you are looking for an ideal starter pogo stick for a young kid, Grow-to-Pro from Fisher-Price would be a great choice – it’s well made, safe and the additional training base makes is perfect for learning. We can definitely recommend it.
On the other hand, if your kid is older or won’t need the training base, we would rather recommend you the Flybar Maverick – it has higher weight limit, foam padding and you can also choose your preferred color.
